Project status Completed in BLP 1

8 Decent Work and Economic Growth

Problem:
German DC actors have so far lacked access to the relevant national and international networks in the target countries and suitable approaches to combining entrepreneurship and development cooperation (core problem). As a result, there is a lack of access to digital start-ups and their approaches to solving globally relevant challenges in the Environment, Climate, Energy, Water, Resource Efficiency and Urbanisation sectors. On the other hand, the potential of cooperation with startup Cities for best-practice examples for development cooperation remains unutilised.

Project objective:
To establish a German-Asian Startup City network that provides German DC actors with new insights, partners and structures that are available for effective development cooperation in the future. The network will increase the level of professionalisation of the actors in the participating entrepreneurship ecosystems and thus increase their performance. The project thus contributes to the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development's "Make IT: Global Tech Entrepreneurship Initiative". The objective of this initiative is to strengthen the innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem for start-ups in partner countries of development cooperation.
