In February 2024, the federal state of Lower Saxony signed a solidarity partnership with the Mykolaiv Oblast, focusing on humanitarian aid, support for the reconstruction of towns, infrastructure and logistics, the expansion of economic cooperation and healthcare, as well as assistance with EU integration.
One of the projects being implemented as part of the solidarity partnership involves training Ukrainian prosthetics technicians in Lower Saxony.
To ensure that these prosthetics technicians are able to work in the future and provide care for local people, a prosthetics workshop is also to be set up at Mykolaiv Regional Hospital.
