Urban Mobility Berlin and India (UMBI)
Primary tabs
The very high levels of CO2, nitrogen oxide and particulate matter pollution in Indian cities are largely caused by traffic. At the same time, the transport sector is responsible for around 15 % of all greenhouse gases. However, the framework conditions for climate-friendly urban mobility are not yet in place. In the currently still fragmented Indian ecosystem of electromobility, public and private actors can cooperate more effectively. Berlin has expertise in the transportation transition, as it was the first German federal state to prioritise cycling, walking and public transport in its mobility law.
The aim of the project is to bring together German and Indian actors for climate-friendly urban electromobility, to jointly develop solutions to challenges and to advance a mobility turnaround in India.
To this end, Indian and Berlin startups in the field of electromobility, as well as relevant investors and other experts, are being networked.
