Welcome to the platform of the German Government and Federal States Programme (Bund-Länder-Programm, BLP) and to our serious game "Gender - Next Level"!

The BLP is commissioned by the German Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and implemented by the Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH. The BLP brings together the German government and the federal states in the field of development cooperation. The programme works in different thematic areas and has implemented 72 projects all over the world since its start in 2015. In this context gender equality and digitalisation have been cross-cutting issues and with the BMZ's feminist development policy, gender has become even more important for our project work.

Thinking about new and innovative ways to address gender equality, we embarked on developing a serious game. We are happy that the final product ist now available:  "Gender - Next Level". In this game, the player learns about the importance of gender and other diversity dimensions for the management of projects in development cooperation by playing three different scenarios in Nigeria, India and Ecuador. The game was developed in close collaboration with GIZ colleagues working on gender related topics, with consultants as well as with colleagues in the respective country offices. The technical development was done by the e-learning and game development company imc multimedia. We are grateful to all who have contributed and gave so many valuable inputs to the development of the game. Now, we hope that you will enjoy playing this game!

You can play the game by clicking on "start", it will take around 60 minutes. You can interrupt the game at any time and, dependent on your browser settings, you should be able to continue playing from where you have stopped playing when you return to this page.
