Support for Zaporizhzhya’s municipal hospitals in terms of medical equipment, strategic planning and staff training

The lack of adequate provision for needs-based medical treatment in hospitals increases the risk of a long-term deterioration in the medical care situation for the Ukrainian population, particularly in towns and cities near the front lines, such as Zaporizhzhya. The training of medical staff and experts in hospital administration and organisation, particularly in these areas, is therefore a high priority. The structure of medical training in Ukrainian hospitals generally lacks ongoing training opportunities and teaching materials in the sense of continuous medical education, which are adapted to the specific conditions of war and emergency and care situations—e.g. resulting from drone and missile attacks—in order to meet the massively increased medical needs in terms of material resources, training and further education, professional exchanges and on-site strategic planning. This is where the project comes in, by offering opportunities for medical training and professional exchange at two city hospitals in the Ukrainian city of Zaporizhzhya, improving medical equipment, and advancing sound planning for mass medical emergencies and rehabilitation management through cooperation with Magdeburg University Hospital.
